LAS VEGAS, NV, Jan. 8, 2002 - SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ:SNDK) announced today that Microsoft Corp. has selected a software driver developed by SanDisk to be included in Windows CE.NET, the newest version of the Miscrosoft™ Windows™ CE operating system. Windows CE.NET is a robust real-time operating system for rapidly building the next generation of smart mobile devices such as handheld computers, digital cameras, cell phones and other portable products.
The announcement was made at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) where SanDisk is showing products at booth #11511.
Bo Ericsson, SanDisk's vice president of OEM marketing, said, "This is great news for SanDisk because it means Microsoft now provides native and direct support for our Secure Digital flash storage cards in its next generation Windows CE operating system. Keith White, senior director of marketing for the Embedded and Appliance Platforms Group at Microsoft, said, "Flash data storage products have become very popular as the number and range of Windows Powered mobile devices continues to grow. The inclusion of the SanDisk driver in Windows CE.NET will help OEMs more easily meet this continued demand as they build their next generation of smart mobile devices."
