SanDisk Will Supply SD Card To PocketPyro For The Pyro MP3 Player

LAS VEGAS, NV, Jan. 6, 2001 - SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ: SNDK) announced today that it will supply PocketPyro Inc. with SanDisk-branded Secure Digital (SD) cards for the new Pyro MP3 player for Palm computers. The removable postage stamp-size cards will be used to store MP3 files for high-fidelity, near-CD quality music. The announcement was made at the annual Consumer Electronics Show where SanDisk is demonstrating products at the Las Vegas Convention Center, North Hall, booth #4203.

The Pyro clips on to the Palm III Series for an additional 16MB to 64MB of removable storage. Up to two hours of music can be stored on one 64MB SD card. The Pyro plays MP3 files on stereo headphones using the Palm interface to control the player hardware, manage songs and view lyrics and band information.

The Pyro initially will store digital music files on SanDisk Secure Digital Cards. In the near future, the Pyro will be able to store other multimedia files such as voice recordings.

Don Lipinski, vice president and general manager at PocketPyro, said, "The SanDisk SD card gives the Pyro virtually unlimited memory expansion capabilities for many potential applications. Since the SD Card is also an industry standard, the user gains the flexibility to easily transfer images to and from a desktop computer or other devices."

Thomas Climer, SanDisk's SD Card product manager, said, "Incorporating a SanDisk SD card into the Pyro adds a tremendous amount of functionality and versatility. The SD card is quickly becoming a secure, universal storage solution for digital music, video and imaging mediums."

SanDisk Secure Digital Cards will be available from PocketPyro, music stores and retail outlets where Palm Computing accessories are sold. PocketPyro is headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
