Calderoni Leaves Vice President Post At IBM
SUNNYVALE, CA. -- March 1, 2000 - SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ:SNDK) today announced the appointment of Frank A. Calderoni as chief financial officer and senior vice president, finance and administration. Calderoni, who will report to Eli Harari, SanDisk CEO and president, was formerly vice president, finance & operations, global small business, international business machines (IBM) Corp. The appointment is effective today.
Calderoni replaces Cindy Burgdorf. Burgdorf, who joined SanDisk in 1994, announced last year that she wanted to retire to spend more time with her husband and three young daughters.
Harari said, "Frank's appointment comes at a critical time for SanDisk, as growth in our target markets is accelerating, fueling strong demand for our products. Frank brings to SanDisk's executive management team a wealth of financial and operational experience in large scale businesses.
"Frank is taking over a solid finance and administration team and a superb balance sheet, the legacy of Cindy Burgdorf's leadership. Over these past six years, Cindy has guided SanDisk through our IPO and two subsequent secondary financings. She has graciously and patiently postponed her retirement until Frank came on board. We will miss her and wish her all the best."
A resident of San Jose, Calderoni held several high level financial and management positions during his 20 years at IBM. Most recently he was controller of IBM's storage systems division, a multi-billion dollar international storage products division. His earlier positions included controller of IBM's server group, director of finance and planning in the system 390 division and site controller in the large scale computing division.
Calderoni, who holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Pace University, formerly sat on the board of directors of two companies - Storage Products Thailand, Inc., and Hailiang Storage Products Co., Ltd.
